Ron Lloyd Band (John Alan and Ron) breaks up.
Karen Carpenter dies
John and Alan have an off-night band called "Spare Time" that becomes full time. With drummer, Dan Trevena, they play Portland, Ashland, and the Black Forest and Duffy's Tavern in Eugene.
MASH goes off the air    
Reagan pushes for Star Wars    
"Just Say No" campaign    
HIV discovered

Cosby show premieres
Drummer, Doug Lay, joins the band.
Michael Jackson's hair catches fire during Pepsi commercial
Gigs at Mt. Bachelor, Inn of the 7th Mountain, Priest Lake, and Union Oyster Bar.
The Macintosh introduced
The "Mind Expanders" appear on our stage. Confusion ensues.
Mary Lou Retton wins six medals

"We Are The World" album
Band plays lots of top 40, travels a lot.
Nintendo introduced
Shiloh Inn in Seaside, Piptide in Newport, Cliff's in Seaside, Iron Door Saloon in Groveland, CA, the Saddle Horn in Redding, Ashland Hills Inn, Sandpiper in Medford, P.B. Clayton's in Roseburg (repeated drives home in the fog).
Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame opens

Bill Buckner misses ground ball, and the Red Sox lose World Series
John spends time playing solo in Vegas and San Diego.
Chernobyl disaster
The band and goes part time, playing mostly Eugene.

The Boys are hot stuff in Eugene.
Exxon Valdez oil spill   Halloween at the Hilton, Oregon Alumni dances, KUGN benefits, first Lane County Fair main stage gigs, and big crowds at the Factory.
Lucille Ball dies
Play KUGN dance at Hilton during Eugene Celebration. A large, enthusiastic crowd pushes the stage into a concrete wall!
